Admixture staffRMCC employees a staff of highly competent, experienced, oncology trained admixture technicians that participate in the preparation of chemotherapy medications for our patients. Chemotherapy drugs are prepared and administered in each of the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center clinics. Our admixture technicians work closely with oncology trained nurses to ensure safe and timely administration of chemotherapy agents.DosimetristPart of the radiation oncology team. Dosimetrists calculate radiation doses.Front office coordinatorRMCC coordinators oversee all functions of the front office. They assist the staff in serving the needs of our patients. If there are issues with patient accounts, scheduling or records, front office coordinators are there to resolve them before they become problems.Genetic counselorHelps individuals or families understand the way heredity contributes to cancer and its implications for other family members and recurrence.Medical physicistPart of the radiation oncology team. The medical physicist is responsible for the accuracy of the radiation doses and equipment.Medical records specialistsThe RMCC medical record team keeps our clinics organized as they sort and file all incoming and outgoing patient information. This includes patient test results, dictations and correspondence. They prepare and maintain all patient charges.Nurse PractitionerA nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced training, such as a master's or doctorate degree, in a specialized area. Nurse practitioners (NPs) at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers specialize in the field of oncology. The advanced knowledge and skills gained in these accredited programs allow NPs to function as clinical experts in their fields of choice. Their scope of practice includes comprehensive health assessments; differential diagnosis; ordering, supervising and interpreting diagnostic tests; prescribing pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments in collaboration with a physician partner; and screening to prevent illness and promote wellness. At RMCC, NPs provide direct health care to help meet the special needs of cancer patients and their various cancer care issues. Through their collaboration with medical oncologists and hematologists, NPs have proven to improve outcomes, including patient satisfaction, patient education and cost effectiveness. They enhance patient care by providing individualized care and education. NPs enable physicians to treat more patients, more effectively. Their goal is to help patients understand their insurance benefits related to care received in our offices. The financial counselor will facilitate the referrals and pre-certifications required for visits and treatments.Physician AssistantPhysician assistants (PAs) are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. PAs are educated in the medical model designed to complement physician training and are trained in intensvie, accredited education programs. PAs maintain national certification and are required to complete annual continuing medical education. These registered nurses are responsible for patient assessments and education.Radiation therapistPart of the radiation oncology team. Radiation therapists deliver daily radiation treatments.ReceptionistThe first smile received is usually from one of our receptionists as they meet and greet patients. They ensure that all of the necessary paperwork is filled out for our records, and they inform the clinical staff of patients' arrival for appointments. In some clinics, the receptionists also answer the telephone, relay messages to the nurses and schedule appointments.SchedulersThe RMCC scheduling team sets up appointment times for patients coming to our clinics. Appointments are made for physician appointments, chemotherapy and laboratory visits. In some clinics, the scheduler also makes appointments for patients at other health care facilities for tests ordered by RMCC physicians.Social workerLicensed social workers are available to patients and family members to assist with a variety of issues that can arise as a result of a cancer diagnosis or long term chronic illness. RMCC social workers can assist with finding community resources and financial resources including transportation, translators, counseling and support groups. If you are eligible for financial assistance, the social worker can help you apply for and complete the necessary paperwork from Social Security Disability, Medicaid or specific foundations/grants. Social workers can also answer general legal questions related to advance directives, COBRA, HIPPA and discrimination issues due to illness.Telephone operatorThese individuals answer the phone and direct patient messages to the appropriate department or person. |
