EXPERTISE WHERE IT MATTERS MOST
Our team of medical and radiation oncologists includes some of the best and brightest in the oncology field today. On average each of our doctors has a minimum of 10 years experience treating patients in their area of oncology expertise.
Beyond their medical expertise, our doctors are known for the individualized, compassionate care they deliver. And if you are a cancer patient that level of care makes all the difference in the world.
With head and neck cancers our oncologists take a multidisciplinary approach to care and involve specialists from other disciplines including radiation oncologists, surgeons, ear, nose and throat doctors, plastic surgeons, maxillofacial prosthodontists, dentists, physical therapists, speech pathologists, audiologists, psychiatrists, nurses, dietitians and social workers.
Clinical research trials represent some of the most advanced treatment options. Click here to learn more.
HEAD AND NECK CANCER TREATMENTS
A comprehensive cancer treatment plan is then created incorporating our doctors’ collective expertise. With head and neck cancers, treatment options may include surgery, Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or a combination of options.
Head and neck cancers can be associated with human papilloma virus (HPV) and smoking. We can assess for these as causative agents of your cancer. A type of rehabilitation may also be included to help you return to normal activities as soon as possible after treatment. Our nationally recognized psychosocial support programs are an excellent resource as well.
Some head and neck cancers if detected and treated early can be cured. Advanced cancers can be more challenging. We’ll take the time to review all your treatment options, explaining how each may impact vital functions like your ability to speak, breathe and eat, and then together we’ll decide on a plan that’s right for you and your family.
TODAY’S MOST PROMISING ADVANCES
Many patients with head and neck cancers participate in clinical research trials to have access to the most advanced investigational treatment and drug options available.
At Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers clinical trial research is an integral part of our mission. We participate in clinical trials through US Oncology Research, which has played a role in 48 FDA-approved cancer therapies, nearly one-third of all cancer therapies approved by the FDA to date.
