At Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers we believe in leading by example and supporting others who do the same. April 24-26 we were proud sponsors of CancerCon 2015, a global conference focused on young adults (18-39), meeting for the first time in Denver. Throughout the weekend members of our supportive care team had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with attendees. Jill Mitchell, PhD, LCSW, OSW-C, our social worker in Boulder, led two hour-long sessions on “What Cancer Stole from Me: Grieving and Loss” and co-facilitated “Just for Caregivers: Let It All Hang Out – For Peers of Young Adults.” More than 500 survivors, caregivers, advocates and providers attended the three day event. On Saturday, May 2nd we were one of the proud sponsors of the 31st Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Conference: The Sue Miller Day of Caring. Dr. Sami Diab from our Aurora and Parker clinics spoke on “Self-Care: Emotional & Holistic Approaches.” The conference included education sessions, a resource center of hope, and a survivor fashion show and had more than 450 participants.
