Team Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers (RMCC) Colorado Springs was both the top fundraiser and the largest team at the recent Fountain Valley Relay For Life. The event raised $20,109 for the American Cancer Society (ACS) with our RMCC team raising $4,746 of that total. During the 12 hour event team members walked or ran around the track at Fountain Middle School with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track at all times.
Relay For Life began in the USA in May 1985. Today more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries host the event which honors cancer survivors, remembers loved ones lost, and raises funds for vital research, prevention and support programs. Each Relay is unique to its host community. One of the hits of the Fountain Relay was the Chili and Nacho booth hosted by members of RMCC’s team. RMCC also donated hats, pillows and scarves for use by cancer survivors.
