On Feb. 25 Dr. Scot Sedlacek , breast oncologist with our Rose and Lone Tree clinics, will receive the Sue Miller Survivor Award at “An Evening of Caring” benefitting The Day of Caring for Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. The award is in recognition of Dr. Sedlacek’s tireless efforts as a two-time board member to further the organization’s mission.
Started in 1981, Day of Caring was the first breast cancer organization to form within the state of Colorado. Its founder Sue Miller was a young mother, wife and professional model when she was diagnosed in the 1970s with breast cancer. Her vision for Day of Caring was to create an opportunity for women who had breast cancer to feel beautiful again by being in a fashion show. Today, the Day of Caring event has evolved to include not only a fashion show, with both male and female models, but participants can also attend a host of educational breakout sessions featuring local and national experts in the breast cancer arena. RMCC experts that have been featured include Dr. Sedlacek, Dr. Dev Paul and Dr. Sami Diab.
