Celebrating Resilience: RMCC Observes National Cancer Survivors Month
3 min read

COLORADO – June 2025 – Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers (RMCC) proudly recognized June as National Cancer Survivors Month, a time dedicated to honoring the millions of individuals who are living with and through a cancer diagnosis. The month-long observance kicked off with National Cancer Survivors Day, celebrated on the first Sunday of June, which fell on June 1, 2025, this year.
Celebrating these significant milestones and sharing survivor stories is profoundly important because they offer invaluable hope, inspiration, and a vital sense of community to those newly diagnosed or currently undergoing treatment, while also raising crucial awareness about the realities of cancer.
The oncology physicians at RMCC understand that true survivorship extends far beyond the completion of medical treatment – it encompasses ongoing physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being. Every member of the RMCC team is committed to supporting patients through every phase of their journey, recognizing the long-term impacts of cancer and aiming to help individuals manage late effects, maintain quality of life, and navigate their new normal with comprehensive support. This holistic approach ensures that patients receive the care they need to thrive after treatment.
"National Cancer Survivors Month and Day are incredibly meaningful to us at RMCC," said Dr. Mabel Mardones, medical oncologist at RMCC. "It's a time to pause and acknowledge the remarkable strength and perseverance of our patients. Their journeys are a testament to the advancements in cancer care, but more importantly, to the indomitable human spirit. We are dedicated to providing not just cutting-edge treatments, but also the comprehensive support necessary for our survivors to lead full and healthy lives."
Dr. Gerlinde Tynan, breast surgical oncologist at RMCC, added, "Each cancer survivor is living proof that individuals can survive cancer and go on to lead active, full, and healthy lives. Their stories are powerful sources of hope and inspiration, reminding us all of the resilience within. At RMCC, we are committed to a holistic approach to survivorship, ensuring our patients have the resources and support they need to navigate their unique post-treatment paths and maintain their quality of life."
RMCC remains steadfast in its mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the entire cancer journey and beyond, continually striving to empower survivors and improve their quality of life for years to come.
